Campus Ministries Opportunity
The Fall “Adopt a Student” Ministry is underway. If you participated last year, thank you for being called to give of your time and presence to one of Horne Memorial’s college students. If you did not participate or are new to Horne, below you will find how you can make a big difference in the life of one of our promising young adults this fall.
Please select a student only if you can commit to completing the following simple tasks…the rewards will far outweigh the efforts required:
- Pray! Our college students are faced with challenges and stresses on a daily basis. They need to know we are praying for them.
- Send your student a minimum of two cards between now and their Christmas break….typically their break begins early December. Please feel free to take several cards from the basket.
- Send them an occasional email just to say hi and let them know you are thinking about them and praying for them.
- Mail your student an exam care package near the end of the fall semester. No worries, I’ll remind you as the date approaches in late November. Stuff a shoebox full of home-made cookies or brownies, microwave popcorn, sugar-free gum, maybe even a gift card from a popular fast food joint…things you might like to receive if you found yourself far from home and stressed out because of impending exams! Be creative. By getting to know your student throughout the next several months, you’ll know exactly what to send that will bring a smile to a study-weiry face.
If you participated last year, please choose a DIFFERENT student. You will be blessed by getting to know a different hip young college kid each time you participate!
